If you have an opportunity to attend a Concourse d’Elegance, it is a wonderful event, you won’t be disappointed!

This cast Brass ship’s porthole was purchased in 1980. Since then it has set around and never used. The original intention was to install it in a bathroom as a mirror and focal point.

The piece was recently “rediscovered” the other day and it’s condition was tarnished to say the least. Even the mirror had a little “something” on it.

You’ll need very simple supplies for this project.  You’ll need a tube or tin of Rolite.  A soft cloth to apply the Rolite and another soft cloth for buffing the Rolite.  A terrycloth towel works great for the application and a microfiber cloth works great for buffing.

Rolite has removed the oxidation and spotting from all the surfaces of the brass and brilliantly restored the original shine to this piece of memorabilia.

 The steps were as follows:

•  Apply Rolite with a soft cloth to a small area and observe the oxidation then the shine returning.

•  To do a really good job, the porthole was disassembled and each piece was polished with Rolite premium metal polish.

• The ships porthole was then reassembled and the entire piece was buffed out with a soft cloth. Even the glass mirror.

• The “new” porthole, in all its brilliance, is now ready to be installed.

•  Total time to rejuvenate this piece was just under one hour.

• We think it was well worth it!
